Netiquette IQ Blog Of 1/5/2016 What Length Is Most Likely To Get A Response

A company analyzed 5.3 million emails and discovered what length is most likely to get a response

Okay, here’s a little test. See if you can decide which email is most likely to elicit a response:
1. Hey, I was thinking about you earlier. Do you want to get pizza?
2. Hey, I’d definitely like to get together next week. Do you want to get pizza?
3. Hey, it would be really great to see you and catch up. Do you want to get pizza?
4. Hey! It would be absolutely wonderful to see you! Do you want to get pizza? I’m so excited!
The correct answer is—drumroll—the second one. It’s in the Goldilocks zone of email tonality: not too positive, not too negative, not flat-out neutral. Just right.
That’s according to a new analysis by the email-efficiency serviceBoomerang. The company anonymized and aggregated data from more than 5.3 million messages, and figured out which qualities made an email most likely to prompt a response.
Back to all those pizza emails: The first one was too neutral. The third one was better than the first one but not as good as the second one. And the fourth one? Not bad, but not the best. Too enthusiastic is about as effective as seeming emotionless.
Boomerang found that emails that were slightly positive or slightly negative were most likely to get responses. Asking a couple of questions is good, but more than three starts working against you. “Flattery works, but excessive flattery doesn’t,” they wrote in a blog post about the findings. “We also don’t advise penning day-ruining screeds.”
So, for instance, if you want to get the attention of a store manager, Boomerang does not advise an email that ends with, “I hope you die in agony.” Instead, try: “I had an awful experience at your store today. The clerk was very rude. Please do something to make it right.”
So, you know, play it cool. But not too cool. Also, no need to write long. The optimum length for an email is 50 to 125 words.

Netiquette IQ Technical Term Of The 3/4/2016 - Ephemeral Messaging

Ephemeral Messaging

Ephemeral messaging is the mobile-to-mobile transmission of multimedia messages that automatically disappear from the recipient's screen after the message has been viewed. The word "ephemeral" describes something that only lasts for a short period of time.
Having a clear-cut IT strategy is key establishing a competitive advantage over any competition. It can be the difference maker between a business’ success and its failure. Reach your business goals and stay organized by downloading this FREE e-guide which includes 9 templates already in use by major organizations such as NASA and Brown University.
While ephemeral messaging is reshaping the landscape of digital communication, it is also raising questions around data privacy, data permanence and data security. Snapchat is a well-known example of an ephemeral messaging application. Snapchat messages can only be viewed once -- and during the viewing period, the recipient must maintain contact with the device's touchscreen or the message, which is called a Snap, disappears. Snapchat became the subject of an U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) investigation when it was alleged that Snapchat deceived consumers with promises about the ephemeral nature of messages sent through the service. The FTC has since ruled that Snapchat did not employ reasonable security measures to protect personal information from misuse and unauthorized disclosure.
Ephemeral messaging which "self-destruct" can be contrasted with SMS text messaging andi Message, both of which require the recipient to physically delete messages from the device.

Netiquette IQ Blog of 3/4/2016 - Spam And HowTo Sell WIthout It

Netiquette: how to market without spamming
november 19, 2015 | valorey https://valorey.wordpress.com
Is there a such thing as netiquette? Yes and your friends are getting fed up!
How can you effectively market your business on social media without annoying your friends? How can you effectively market your business without someone reporting you for spam and getting sent to Facebook “Jail”?
Where new Network Marketers get lost is believing their posts aren’t spam. What exactly is considered spam?
·         Your link dropping on posts and comments
·         Product images
·         Excessive business posts
·         Constantly looking for 3 people to join your team
·         Private messages about your product or business opportunity to people you do not know
·         Long messages or posts (usually more than 3 sentences)
·         Tagging people in business posts
·         Adding people to groups without asking them first
If you’re guilty of doing these things, don’t feel bad. You aren’t the only one. From this moment on just change the way you market.

How to market without spamming:
·         Attraction marketing – photos and of yourself using the product, demos, etc. Without dropping a link or commercial type verbiage
·         Build relationships by making friends first
·         Success posts – brag on your fellow teammates for their accomplishments
·         Always post and comment positive things – compliment, congratulate, contribute
