Netiquette IQ Technnical Term of The Day - Click to Run

==============================================
Click-to-Run
Click-to-Run is a way to quickly install Microsoft products, including versions of Office 2010 and Office 2013 and Office 365.

Traditional software downloads require a complete (and sometimes lengthy) download before the product can be unpackaged, installed and used on an endpoint computer. Click-to-Run uses a combination of streaming and application virtualization to move the product onto a virtual disk. This virtualized environment allows users to begin using the new Office components before the entire package has been downloaded or installed on the local system. The Click-to-Run version of Office can co-exist with older versions of Office Professional Plus to help users transition to the newer version of Office gradually.

Click-to-run downloads are reported to use less disk space than traditional software installations and will update Office on an ongoing basis without the need for conventional Windows update cycles. Some antimalware products can not recognize virtual disks like the type created for Click-to-Run installations, however, so it's important for enterprise users who are considering a shift to Click-to-Run to consult Microsoft's Knowledge Base and research known deployment issues for their specific environments.
