Amazon Simple Notification Service
Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS) is a cloud service for coordinating the delivery of push messages from software applications to subscribing endpoints and clients. All messages published to Amazon SNS are warehoused across several availability zones to prevent loss.
Amazon SNS allows users to push messages to Windows, Google, Apple and certain internet-connected smart devices by using an application programming interface (API) or the AWS Management Console. Once a message is published to the service, it can be sent multiple times to different recipients. Service users also have the flexibility to send direct messages to several devices or to one subscriber by using a sole publish request.
To get started with Amazon SNS, developers first have to create a topic, which is an access point for subscribers who are interested in receiving notifications about a specific subject. Developers publish a message to a topic when they have an update for subscribers and this action prompts Amazon SNS to distribute the message to all appropriate subscribers.

Amazon SNS has pay-as-you-go-pricing and no upfront costs. Users who sign up for AWS Free Tier receive 1 million mobile push notifications. Topic owners are able to set policies specifying which types of protocols will be supported. They can also be used to limit who can subscribe to notifications or publish messages. The subscribers, who are also called clients, can choose how notifications will be delivered.

Netiquette IQ Blog Of 9/12/17 - Compound Words

====================================================

From thoughtco.com
Updated April 03, 2017

A common writing error occurs when students use the wrong version of a compound word or phrase. It's important to know the difference between everyday and every day because these expressions have very different meanings. It's also important to know because this drives some teachers crazy!
Improve your writing by learning the differences between expressions that are very similar but that fill very different roles when it comes to sentence structure.
A lot or Alot?
“A lot” is a two-word phrase meaning very much. This is an informal expression, so you shouldn’t use it “a lot” in your writing.
“Alot” is not a word, so you should never use it!
It’s a good idea to avoid this expression altogether in formal writing.
All Together or Altogether?
Altogether is an adverb meaning completely, entirely, wholly, or "considering everything." It often modifies an adjective.
"All together" means as a group.
The meal was altogether pleasing, but I would not have served those dishes all together.
Please try to avoid these everyday mistakes!
Everyday or Every Day?
The two-word expression “every day” is used as an adverb (modifies a verb like wear), to express how often something is done:
I wear a dress every day.
The word “everyday” is an adjective that means common or ordinary. It modifies a noun. This word is seldom used and often misused! It is rare that the word everyday is actually correct!
When in doubt, use the two-word version.
I was horrified when I realized I'd worn an everyday dress to the formal dance.
They served an everyday meal -- nothing special.
(Think of everyday as the same as ho-hum.)
Never mind or Nevermind?
The word “nevermind” is often used in error for the two-word term “never mind.” Be careful of this one!
In a nutshell, you’ll probably never need to use "nevermind." It’s an old-fashioned noun meaning attention or notice, used in the negative sense:
Pay no nevermind to that man behind the curtain.
The phrase “never mind” is a two-word imperative meaning “please disregard” or “pay no attention to that.” This is the version you'll use most often in your life.
Never mind that man behind the curtain.
You should avoid using the single word nevermind altogether if you are confused by this! Is that explanation all right?
All Right or Alright?
“Alright” is a word that appears in dictionaries, but it is a nonstandard version of “all right” and should never be used in formal writing.
To be safe, just use the two-word version.
Is everything all right in there?
If you have any doubts about this expression, please ask your teacher for backup information.
Backup or Back Up?
There are many compound words that confuse us because they sound similar to a verb phrase. In general, the verb form usually consists of two words and the similar compound word version is a noun or adjective.
Verb: Please back up your work when using a word processor.
Adjective: Make a backup copy of your work.
Noun: Did you remember to make a backup?
Go ahead and make up your own examples!
Makeup or Make Up?
Verb: Make up your bed before you leave the house.
Adjective: Study for your makeup exam before you leave the house.
Noun: Apply your makeup before you leave the house.
Understanding the differences between these words and phrases can be a real workout for your brain!
Workout or Work Out?
Verb: I need to work out more often.
Adjective: I need to wear workout clothing when I go to the gym.
Noun: That jog gave me a good workout.
Did you pick up on the various meanings?
Pickup or pick up?
Verb: Please pick up your clothes.
Adjective: Don’t use a pickup line on me!
Noun: I’m driving my pickup to the mall.
Remember the differences! Don't be set up for failure!
Setup or Set Up?
Verb: You'll have to set up the chairs for the puppet show.
Adjective: Unfortunately, there is no setup manual for a puppet show.

Noun: The setup will take you all day.
Are you waking up to the fact that the verb form usually consists of two words?
Wake-up or Wake Up?
Verb: I could not wake up this morning.
Adjective: I should have asked for a wake-up call.
Noun: The accident was a good wake-up.

Netiquette IQ Blog Of 9/10/17 - Air Gapping

Buy the books at

 www.amazon.com/author/paulbabicki
====================================================

Air Gapping
Air gapping is a security measure that involves isolating a computer or network and preventing it from establishing an external connection. For example, an air gapped computer is one that is physically segregated and incapable of connecting wirelessly or physically with other computers or network devices.

Air-gapped networks are used to protect many types of critical systems, including those that support the stock market, the military, the government and industrial power industries. The U.S. National Security Agency TEMPEST project provides recommendations for using air gapping as a security measure. To prevent unauthorized data extrusion through electromagnetic or electronic exploits, there is often a specified amount of space between the air gapped system and outside walls and between its wires and the wires for other technical equipment. For a system with extremely sensitive data, a Faraday cage can be used to prevent electromagnetic radiation (EMR) escaping from the air-gapped equipment.

Although these measures seem extreme, van Eck phreaking can be used to intercept data such as key strokes or screen images from demodulated EMR waves, using special equipment from some distance away. Other proof-of-concept (POC) attacks for air gapped systems have shown that electromagnetic emanations from infected sound cards on isolated computers can be exploited and continuous wave irradiation can be used to reflect and gather information from isolated screens, keyboards and other computer components.
Perhaps the most important way to protect a computing device or network from an air gap attack is through end user security awareness training. The infamous Stuxnet worm, which was designed to attack air gapped industrial control systems, is thought to have been introduced by infected thumb drives found by employees or obtained as free giveaways.

Editor's note: The software-defined perimeter (SDP) framework is sometimes referred to as a method of virtual air gapping. SDP requires authentication of all external endpoints attempting to access internal infrastructure and ensures that only authenticated systems can see internal IP addresses.
